Open to everyone: We welcome children, teenagers, and young adults from all backgrounds.
Rooted in values: Respect, solidarity, sustainability, and responsibility guide everything we do.
Part of a global family: With over 60 million Guides and Scouts worldwide, LGS connects Luxembourg to a movement without borders.
Scouting in Luxembourg has more than a century of tradition.
The Lëtzebuerger Scouten (1919) were among the founders of the international Scout movement (today’s WOSM).
The Letzeburger Guiden (1938) became members of the global Girl Guide movement (WAGGGS) in 1960.
In 1994, both movements merged to form the Lëtzebuerger Guiden a Scouten (LGS) — a united, co-educational movement open to all.
Today, LGS counts over 5,000 members in Luxembourg.
In Luxembourg, LGS is part of Scouting in Luxembourg, the national scout association, alongside the Fédération Nationale des Eclaireurs et Eclaireuses du Luxembourg (FNEL).
Together, we represent Scouting in Luxembourg with over 10.000 members and connect them to the international community.
LGS is a proud member of both:
|
The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), and |
|
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). |
This means our Guides and Scouts in Luxembourg are part of a truly global movement that inspires, supports, and connects millions of young people across more than 170 countries.
The Lëtzebuerger Guiden a Scouten has five age sections. The youngest are the Biber, but not every local group starts at age 6 — sometimes the journey begins directly with the Wëllefcher.
👉 Each age section has its own symbolic framework – a playful world that makes activities meaningful and inspiring. For younger children this means stories and adventures in nature; for teenagers it becomes about responsibility, leadership, and shaping real projects.
Here’s how scouting grows with you:
Discover teamwork, creativity, and nature through play and crafts.
Explore, investigate, and make friends. Camps and group activities build responsibility and empathy.
Learn independence and take part in planning activities. Adventure, camps, and projects help scouts grow in confidence.
Take responsibility, lead activities, and work as a team. International camps and challenges push boundaries.
Young adults shape their own path, set goals as a “clan,” and prepare to take on roles as active citizens and leaders.
Scouting is learning by doing
Every week, thousands of young people across Luxembourg meet in small groups to play, explore, and grow together. Through games, outdoor activities, camps, and projects, they discover their strengths, learn to take responsibility, and develop values that last a lifetime: teamwork, respect, resilience, and leadership.
Scouting is not school and not just another hobby – it’s a safe space where children and teenagers can try things out, make mistakes, and learn by experience. It’s about having fun with friends while building skills that prepare them for life.
Along the way, scouts earn badges that reflect the skills they’ve acquired: from cooking outdoors to teamwork, from environmental action to leadership. These achievements motivate them to grow and give them a proud sense of progress.
The LGS program is built on the promise and law of scouting and guiding, which highlight: loyalty, respect, responsibility, service, teamwork, and friendship.
We use the scout method, a proven approach to non-formal education:
Learning by doing – hands-on experience.
Small groups – teamwork and shared responsibility.
Outdoor activities – connecting with nature.
Personal progression – through symbolic frameworks, challenges, and badges.
Scouting is organised locally – every group runs its own program and schedule.
